How It Works

Active members of this Circle can add a story. If it is someone else’s memory, name them and confirm they agreed to it being shared. The Circle steward approves each story before it is public. A contributor can withdraw their story at any time, and the steward will withdraw a story if the person it belongs to asks. Stories are shared memory, not verified history.

What The Research Says

Community oral-history practice (Oral History Australia guidelines)

Record with informed consent, let the teller decide how their words are used, and keep the right to withdraw.

Here: Every story records whose memory it is and that they agreed, and can be withdrawn.

Mukurtu and community archive platforms

Communities should decide what is shared and who looks after it, not an outside platform.

Here: Each Circle steward approves what appears in their Circle’s archive.

Intergenerational programmes

Pairing younger and older people to record stories strengthens belonging on both sides.

Here: Use the Skills Exchange to pair a younger member with an elder to record a story together.

Summaries in our own words. None of these organisations endorse Place & Space.

Free for every Circle, on every plan. Stories never affect ranking or trust levels.
