When Someone Asks AI To Find A Business Like Yours, Does It Name You — Or Route Straight Past You?
Your customers have stopped scrolling ten blue links. They ask an AI agent, and it answers with one or two names it already trusts. If your business isn’t a record that agent can verify and trust, you are not in the running — no matter how good you are. Activating your Presence puts you back in it.

Search Quietly Changed The Rules On You
For twenty years, being found meant ranking on a page of results. You did the work, you climbed the list, a customer scrolled and chose. That world is closing. People now ask an assistant — “find me a good electrician near Ipswich”, “who should I use for my BAS?” — and the agent hands back a shortlist of one or two names, already decided.
Here is the part that should keep you up at night: the agent isn’t reading your website the way a human does. It is looking for a record it can parse, cross-check and trust. If it can’t verify who you are, it moves on to a business it can — and you never even know the conversation happened.
This isn’t a hunch. It’s already measurable.

The businesses named inside those AI answers aren’t the biggest. They’re the ones an agent can verify.
Every Day Un-Activated Is A Day Being Quietly Skipped
This isn’t a future problem. It compounds now, silently. There is no bounce-rate to watch, no failed-lead notification — the agent simply names someone else, and the enquiry that should have been yours never arrives.
And the old fix doesn’t work. Another directory listing, another unverified profile card — agents have learned to distrust exactly those. An unactivated, unproven entry is noise to a machine trained to look for accountability. Doing more of the old thing makes you more invisible, not less.
The Shift That Changes Everything
Most businesses respond to AI search by trying to game it — more keywords, more content, more tricks to guess what the model wants this week. It’s exhausting, and it doesn’t hold.
The businesses that will win do the opposite. They stop trying to trick the agent and instead become the source it can’t afford to ignore: a verifiable, accountable, machine-readable identity with a checkable history behind it. When an agent can prove who you are and what you’ve done, naming you is the safe choice — and naming the other guy is the risk.
That verifiable identity has a name. It’s a Presence — and you already have one waiting in the Community. You just have to switch it on.
What A Presence Actually Is
A listing is a description a human reads. A Presence is five things working together so a machine can trust you — and each one is the reason an agent picks you over an unverifiable card. People still browse the Community and read it too, so the same record earns you the human customer and the agent alike.
A verified Entity
Your business as a first-class, machine-readable identity — not a row in someone else’s table. Activated, domain-checked, and owned by you.
An AI Twin
An agent-facing representative that answers on your behalf in the language other AI agents actually speak — so you are quotable, not just findable.
A provenance ledger
Every assertion, change and endorsement written to a tamper-evident, hash-linked record an agent can check for itself — evidence, not marketing.
A GUARD conformance tier
A public, self-declared standing on an open trust ladder — starting at Declared and climbing as you prove more. Honest about exactly where you are.
A Presence Score
One measured grade for how discoverable, complete and verifiable you are to AI — with a governed fix for every weak spot.
You don't claim a listing. You activate a Presence — and in doing so you bring your Place into the real world of accountable identity and open your Space to the world of AI Agents.
Three Steps To Get Named
Activate
Find your business in the Community and take ownership. Verify domain control and your Presence switches on — free, no card. If you are not listed yet, register in minutes.
Govern
Complete your profile, activate your AI Twin, and declare your conformance tier on the GUARD ladder. Every step is recorded to your provenance ledger.
Get cited
Become the accountable, checkable source AI agents prefer to name. Track your Presence Score as it climbs, and act on each governed fix.
The Rails Are Being Laid Right Now
We’re not asking you to take our word for where this is heading. The institutions building the future of the internet are all moving the same way — toward verifiable, accountable, machine-checkable identity. A Presence is how a small business gets on those rails early.
NIST (US), Feb 2026
Began work on standards for AI agent identity and accountability — machine-checkable records of who an agent acts for.
W3C Verifiable Credentials 2.0 & DIDs
A finalised open standard for portable, cryptographically verifiable identity that any system can check without phoning home.
EU eIDAS 2.0, in force 2026
Puts verifiable digital identity wallets into law across Europe — proof-of-identity becomes infrastructure, not a nice-to-have.
C2PA Content Credentials
Cross-industry provenance standard so a record can carry a tamper-evident history of where it came from.
UN Scientific Panel on AI, Jul 2026
Warned that AI capability is outrunning the institutions meant to measure and govern it — accountability has to be built in.

Straight Answers To Fair Questions
Isn’t this just another business directory?
No. A directory gives a human a flat list to scroll. A Presence gives an AI agent a verifiable, machine-readable record it can trust and cite — an Entity, an AI Twin, a provenance ledger and a declared conformance tier. And the Community is still fully browsable by people: a human can find and read your Presence exactly as they would any directory. So one record works for the customers scrolling it and the agents now doing the searching alike — you are not trading one audience for the other.
My customers are people, not robots — why does agent-readable matter?
Because the same record does both jobs. People still browse the Community and see your Presence just as they would a directory listing — and the verified details, history and answers that let an agent trust you are the very things that reassure a human comparing their options. You are not choosing between audiences; you are found by both, from one accountable record.
Is this real yet, or still a concept?
The Community is live and you can activate today. We are at an early stage, and we say so plainly: conformance tiers are self-declared by each operator and recorded to a tamper-evident provenance chain inside this Community’s database — not third-party certification, and not a public blockchain. The open standards will be stewarded by the Open Conformance Foundation, which is being established. We tell you exactly where the line is rather than overclaiming.
I already have a Google Business Profile. Why do I need this?
A Google profile helps a person who is already searching Google. It does nothing to make you verifiable, quotable and accountable to the AI agents that increasingly answer with one or two names instead of ten blue links. A Presence is the record those agents can actually check — and it is yours to take with you, not locked inside one platform.
What does it cost?
Activating your Presence is free, with no card and no expiry — you get a public, agent-readable profile, one offer, RFQ enquiries and your own provenance ledger. Paid plans add selling tools, an AI Twin, evidence records and portable governance (no plan buys placement) as you grow. Paid checkout is being switched on shortly; activating stays free.
Do I own it? Can I leave?
Yes. Your Presence and its history belong to you. A portable, hash-linked export of that history is in development — founding members get it when it ships — and you can leave and take it with you. An identity you cannot take elsewhere is a tenancy, not a sovereignty — so we built it the other way.
Start Free. Climb As You Grow.
Activating is free, forever — a real, agent-readable Presence with your own provenance ledger. When you’re ready to sell harder and prove more, each tier adds exactly one thing: more standing, more tooling, more accountability.

Why Activating Now Matters More Than Activating Later
There’s no manufactured countdown here, and no “only 3 spots left”. The urgency is structural — it comes from how agents actually learn, not from a marketing timer.
The First Verifiable Answer Sticks
Once an agent settles on a name it can trust for “a good plumber in your suburb”, it keeps returning it. Being the accountable record in your category early is how you become the default it reaches for.
A Record Compounds As It Ages
Every verified change adds to a history an agent can weigh. A Presence activated today has a longer, deeper track record the day agents start ranking on it than one activated next year — and you can’t back-date trust.
The Community Is Filling Now
The standards, the rails and the first accountable businesses in each category are being laid this year. Activating is free and takes minutes — so the only real cost is the ground you cede while you wait.
Be The Name The Agent Trusts — Before Your Competitor Is
The standards are being written now, and the first accountable businesses in each category are the ones agents will learn to name. Activating takes minutes, costs nothing, and it’s yours to keep.
P.S. Remember the one thing that’s already true: the next time a customer asks an agent for a business like yours, it will answer with somebody. The only question is whether that somebody is a verifiable Presence — or the competitor who activated theirs first. It costs nothing to make that name yours.
Place & Space is at an early stage. A Presence makes you verifiable, complete and accountable to AI agents — it is measured, not a guarantee about how any single AI model will answer. Conformance tiers are self-declared and recorded to a tamper-evident provenance chain within this Community, not third-party certification. “Certified” standing is reserved for a future, independently audited tier.
